Today is Giving Tuesday and if ever there was a day to donate to our neighbours it is today. At Delaney, we are safe and, though close to the devastation in the Interior and Lower Mainland, we have not been directly impacted. Entire communities, generations of farmers, and people who love the land are seeing it all wash away. It is nothing short of devastating. As a family business we feel fortunate to be in a position to donate and would encourage anyone who can to also do so.
We live in a beautiful part of the country, and we are seeing the effects of climate change up front and personal. When driving from Vancouver to the Interior this summer, the same places that were raging with fire, are now simply gone. Washed out with no trees or quality soil to hold back slopes and mountains. While the devastation can be overwhelming, it has also been inspiring to see the kindness of community, of neighbours helping neighbours and of the Canadian Armed Forces, getting’er done.
So, as we brace for another storm, keeping our eyes on the skies and rivers, I would ask that you donate if you can and if you can’t, send up your prayers for BC. We will take them!
